1,167 Missouri Primary Health Care Providers Sign Up for EHRs - MO HIT Assistance Center Fifth Regional Extension Center in U.S. to Reach Goal

July 7, 2011 - On July 6, the Missouri Health Information Technology (MO HIT) Assistance Center became the fifth regional extension center in the United States to reach its goal, enrolling nearly 1,200 priority primary health care providers to assist them in achieving meaningful use of an electronic health record. EHR Helps Joplin Clinic Rise from Rubble in 72 Hours

June 21, 2011 - The devastating tornado that swept through Joplin on May 22 completely destroyed a number of physician offices, including that of Tracy Godfrey, MD, a Family Practitioner with the Family Health Center of Joplin. But thanks to electronic health records, Godfrey had access to all of her patients' information, and in less than three days after the catastrophe, the practice was able to reopen its doors at a temporary location. Free PQRS Support for New and Current EHR Users

June, 14, 2011 - Providers striving for meaningful use of an EHR may be able to participate easily in the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS-formerly PQRI) with just a little help from Primaris. Physicians may be unaware that several quality measures, including six preventative measures, are consistent between the meaningful use and PQRS programs, and some EHRs are capable of submitting data for both programs. $36 Million Federal Grant to Help Rural Organizations Achieve Meaningful Use

May 5, 2011 -- Rural organizations striving for meaningful use of electronic health records can now apply for support from a new $36 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The Rural Health Information Technology Network Development (RHITND) program will expand access to, coordinate and improve the quality of essential health care services, and enhance the delivery of health care in rural areas.
