Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs

Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs provide incentive payments to eligible professionals and hospitals as they adopt, implement, upgrade, or demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology.

The incentive programs, started in 2010, are designed to support providers in the transition to electronic health records, and to encourage the meaningful use of EHRs to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in patient health care.

As of February 2015, Missouri eligible professionals and hospitals have received over $1.4 million of incentive payments. National and statewide Health IT adoption statistics are available on the Health IT dashboards managed by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
